不同主题的15篇论文都有这位作者,但是这个人似乎并不存在

现在人工智能相关的研究越来越多,来自不同期刊的15项研究,作者名单中都列出了同一位神秘的计算机科学家。

但问题是,这位作者并不存在。
作者名为Dragan Rodriguez,论文中显示其单位为美国凯斯西储大学,但是该单位的工作人员称,大学并无此人
上述论文的主题从“癌症检测”到“可再生能源系统优化”,最早的发表时间为2018年,涉及10种期刊,其中包括历年影响因子都大于7的《International Journal of Hydrogen Energy》和《Journal of Building Engineering》,还有最新影响因子已大于11的《Applied Energy》。这15篇论文共被引用232次。
这个问题是如何被发现的?
前段时间,两本期刊因为“引文循环(citation rings)”问题失去了影响因子研究者Alexander Magazinov是一位兼职科学侦探,打算调查这个事件,他最初调查的是土耳其一所大学的研究员Noradin Ghadimi,是此次“引文循环”的一位受益人,被引次数异常多。
Magazinov在调查中,试图找到过度引用Ghadimi论文的研究,从而发现了Rodriguez,奇怪的是,这位据称单位在美国的研究者完全没有和其他美国研究者有过合作
将对论文贡献很少或没有贡献的人列为作者是不符合学术道德的,但这在学术出版中并不少见。然而,这一问题通常不会夸张到伪造研究者的身份。
在将Rodriguez列为作者的15项研究中,没有一项将他列为通讯作者,但是在凯斯西储大学官网上没有关于他的任何简介,也没有列出他的名字
Magazinov给该大学发了一封电子邮件,询问是否有这个名字的人曾在大学工作过。负责研究诚信的副校长Tracy J. Wilson-Holden回复:
凯斯西储大学调查确定,凯斯西储大学的教职人员、博士后、学生或志愿者都没有过叫Dragan Rodriguez的人
Magazinov将这封电子邮件转发给以Rodriguez为作者发表论文的期刊,表示Wilson-Holden的声明意味着“[Rodriguez]的单位是伪造的,很可能该身份也是虚构的。”
